Brooklyn, NY – United for Brownsville, in collaboration with the Brownsville Partnership, is thrilled to announce the Learning Landscapes Community Scavenger Hunt, a activity promoting exploration, creativity, and community bonding that will launch at the Brownsville Partnership’s 2023 Hope Summit. We cordially invite community members to join us on a captivating journey where they can immerse themselves in the vibrant history and transformative changes of the Brownsville community.
The Scavenger Hunt is part of United for Brownsville’s Learning Landscapes suite of projects that transform everyday spaces and tasks into opportunities for families with young children to learn, bond, and foster child development. The Scavenger Hunt features locations and subjects identified by local families to help their friends and neighbors celebrate all that their neighborhood has to offer.
United for Brownsville Activities: Discovering Brownsville’s Heritage:
Foster Creativity and Community Spirit: Join the creative workshop where participants can craft their very own 16 inch stuffed animal named Blake the Brownsville Bumble Bee. In this workshop, you and your family will have the chance to create your very own Blake the Brownsville Bumble Bee teddy bear limited to the first 150 people. This adorable companion will surely become a cherished memento of your time spent at the Greg Jackson Center and the fun-filled scavenger hunt. UB will also share valuable information on early intervention and offer engaging activities that will further stimulate your senses like the ramp and roll, weather and gear, water play and shadow play activities that are a part of our partnership with WNET/ PBS Kids.
Educational Adventure: Learning Landscapes Family Scavenger Hunt: Discovering Brownsville’s Rich History Using Your Senses! This interactive scavenger hunt combines fun, education, and an opportunity to create precious memories with your loved ones. As you explore Brownsville, you will have the opportunity to delve into the intriguing history of our beloved community using all of your senses. A fun and educational adventure designed for young participants, guiding them to the Brownsville Heritage House and other community staples for an immersive journey into Brownsville’s history. Prizes await the first three to finish the hunt. The scavenger hunt was co-designed by staff and members of United for Brownsville’s Family Advisory Board. Kersha Maximin and Adam Diop led this project alongside Staff member Athenia Rodney with design creation by Torri Luke from Viciamore LLC.

Riseboro: Gain insights into Riseboro’s programs aimed at benefiting the community. Learn about their initiative to support individuals targeted by identity theft and navigate the correction process.
Community Action for Healthy Home: Discover their innovative “No Survey Without Service” model, understand eligibility criteria, and explore ways to participate in community initiatives.
Brownsville Community Land Trust and Community Investment Trust: Stay updated on the visionary projects that are shaping the future of Brownsville and how you can be a part of them.
Be Part of the Design Process: Residents and participants have the unique opportunity to contribute their ideas and insights to co-design projects within the Greg Jackson Center and Community Investment Trust.
Honoring Excellence: The Brownsville Partnership will introduce a new award and announce the recipient for 2023, recognizing outstanding contributions to the community.
