We’re raising $50,000 this Giving Tuesday to expand Learning Landscapes, a project that transforms everyday places in Brownsville into joyful spaces for learning, discovery, and connection.
What started as a simple idea—to make learning visible and joyful in the spaces families already visit—has grown into a neighborhood-wide movement. Learning Landscapes turns bus stops, grocery aisles, and waiting rooms into playful classrooms. These are spaces where parents and caregivers guide their children through activities that spark curiosity, build language and math skills, and strengthen family bonds.
How Learning Landscapes Works
Brownsville parents and neighbors are trained as facilitators to lead this work. They co-design reading corners, interactive games, and activity cards that families can use at home or on the go. The materials are locally developed with technical assistance from educators, curriculum designers, and partners like PBS WNET and the Clinton Foundation. Every element is rooted in joy, culture, and community voice—showing what’s possible when families lead the way.
The impact is profound. Children gain confidence and curiosity. Parents feel empowered as their child’s first teacher. And together, the community reimagines Brownsville as a place where learning lives everywhere.
Your gift makes this possible:
- $25 – Inspires a family with a set of playful Learning Landscape activity cards.
- $150 – Helps make Brownsville a place where learning lives everywhere.
- $500 – Sponsors a full STEAM session for up to 50 participants.
- Any amount – Powers families leading change in their own neighborhood.
