UB is excited to announce that the Family Co-Op has launched at two sites in Brownsville and is going strong.
The Family Co-Op was designed by Brownsville residents, service providers, and our partners at Scholastic to provide fun, free, educational, and community-building opportunities for parents/caregivers and their young children. It meets on Saturdays throughout the academic year and feature free books, field trips, guest visitors, and other opportunities that families for Brownsville have told us they would like access to on weekends.
The Family Co-Op is staffed by a lead teacher, assistant teacher, and family ambassadors — residents who act as liaisons between other families and the staff as they gain valuable professional experience in early childhood edcuation.
The Family Co-Op was recently featured in an article on Patch.com. Although registration is full, with 10 families and 15 children registered per site, we are still accepting names for our waitlist and plan to open additional sites in 2020.
